UTA Promotion Test
Schedule & Requirements
-
Students in the UTA are required to follow the
Testing Requirements listed below, in addition to the required
terminology,
history, and other readings in the UTA Student Manual.
-
Each student is expected to display more physical and mental maturity
with each test, to the best of his/her ability.
-
Depending on rank and age of promotion
candidate, a written paper may be
requested. See some examples
of successful papers from previous testing candidates.
Additional information for promotion testing:
-
See UTA Promotion Test Class Requirements and Examination Fees to make sure you have met the requirements for your next promotion test.
-
All applicants for promotion must download and complete the
*New* UTA Promotion Test application:
Microsoft Word format or
Adobe Acrobat format.
Check with your instructor for the deadline date for submitting your
application for the test.
-
If you are testing for Black Belt, you must complete 3 copies of the
UTA Promotion Test application.
-
Additionally, all Black Belts seeking promotion must download and complete the
Application for Black Belt Promotion and submit for consideration
no less than two weeks prior to the desired promotion test date. This form is applicable for both credit and full promotion tests:
Microsoft Word format or
Adobe Acrobat format.
Promotion tests are normally held on a Friday evening beginning at 5:00 P.M. at the main school (Blue Ash), unless otherwise indicated below. Scheduled tests are as follows:

Below is a list of the class attendance, poomse
(forms) requirements, and testing fees for each rank. Additional
requirements (not listed) include Sparring Combinations (9th Gup), One-step
sparring, breaking, and Kyorugi. Ages 10 and over are also required to
submit a written paper with their
testing application, as an indication of the mental growth of the student in
comprehending more than the physical techniques of Taekwondo. Younger
ranks and others not submitting a paper will be interviewed on their
understanding of terminology and concepts. (Optionally, a written exam
may be administered prior to the physical exam at the discretion of the
instructor.)
